Braces Care Instructions
Looking after your braces is an important part of achieving the best possible treatment outcome. Braces can trap food and plaque around brackets and wires, making good oral hygiene essential throughout treatment. We recommend brushing thoroughly after meals, flossing daily, and attending regular dental check-ups and cleans to help keep your teeth and gums healthy.
It is also important to avoid hard, sticky, or chewy foods that may damage your braces. If a bracket becomes loose or a wire is causing discomfort, please contact our team for advice. Taking good care of your braces will help keep your treatment on track and minimise unnecessary delays.
After Treatment Instructions – Bonded Lingual Wires & Retainers
Completing orthodontic treatment is an exciting milestone, but maintaining your new smile requires ongoing care. Retainers and bonded lingual wires play an important role in preventing teeth from moving back towards their original positions. Wearing your retainers exactly as instructed is essential for protecting your treatment results.
If you have a bonded lingual wire, continue to clean carefully around the wire and contact us if it becomes loose or damaged. Removable retainers should be cleaned regularly, stored safely when not in use, and never wrapped in tissues or napkins where they can be accidentally discarded. Regular retainer checks will help ensure your smile remains straight for years to come.
Elastic Wear Instructions
Orthodontic elastics are often used to help improve the way your upper and lower teeth fit together. For elastics to work effectively, they must be worn exactly as prescribed by your orthodontist. Consistent wear applies gentle pressure to guide tooth movement and helps achieve the desired treatment outcome.
Elastics should generally be worn full-time unless instructed otherwise and should be replaced regularly throughout the day as directed. Removing elastics frequently or forgetting to wear them can slow treatment progress and may extend treatment times. If you have any questions about elastic placement or wear, our team is always happy to assist.
